" Same Same but Different"

Hello everybody! This will be our last blog in Thailand. We are in Bangkok now , after spending four restful days in Koh Phangnan. The full moon party proved itself to be an "interesting" experience. Needless to say everyone forgets their inhibitions for eight hours and lets loose for a night of debauchery. It proved to be more of a spectator sport as Steve and I spent a large chunk of the night being blown away by all the sights and sounds that this massive beach party had to offer.

After two restful days in Koh Phangnan with not much to do on the sleepy side of the island, we spent the majority of a day traveling up North to Bangkok. We have been in Bangkok for the past three days and there is definitely more to see and do here. We've walked around and have seen only a small portion of what this massive city has to offer. We are eagerly awaiting our trip to Tokyo, Japan where we will spend the last five days of our epic adventure.

Thailand has proven to be an interesting blend of ultra consumerism and traditional culture. On one block there can be a buddhist temple next to a street vendor selling knock off Versace wallets. There are people here offering you everything and anything for a buck. This is partially flattering and partially annoying but it's still an amazing experience to see a country that's so similar and yet so different from Canada. There are these shirts for sale here that say " Same Same" on the front and "but different" on the back. We had the hardest time trying to figure out what it meant but now we think it's obvious. It describes Thailand to a T.

Next stop Tokyo, Japan...
